NRA Basic Marksmenship Simulator Course (4 hrs. 30 mins.)

No Live Fire Shooting (save your ammo)

Course Overview: This course teaches basic marksmanship fundamentals & firearm safety using REAL pistols that are modified to conform with NYS law. These pistols mimic the weight and feel of a live-fire pistol and have a resetting trigger, laser barrel and acutal recoil to indicate where the shots hit! Students will do this utilizing our state-of-the-art VirTra V-300  & V-100 Simulators and V-Author Marksmanship Scenario Design Station. We are the only private training academy in New York State, and Tri-State Area  that has the VirTra V-300 & V-100, and V-Author Marksmanship Scenario Design Station! The VirTra is a fully imersive simulator that creates the most lifelike shooting experience on the market. Indoor or outdoor, day or night, in any weather condition. It's like being on an actual range without the need of a pistol permit, firearm or ammunition! Upon the completion of this course, an NRA participation certificate is awarded. YOU DO NOT NEED A PISTOL PERMIT TO ATTEND! Learn the right way to operate a pistol safely before you buy your first pistol! NRA CERTIFICATE COURSES

Level 1, 2 & 3

NRA Home Firearm Safety Course (2 hrs.) - Level 1

Description: Home Firearm Safety Course Instructions in gun safety, types of guns and ammunition, safely unloading various types of firearms, proper cleaning and storage for firearms. No Live Drills.

NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting (8 hrs.) - Level 2

Description: Basic Pistol Shooting Course and includes such topics as pistol parts and operation, ammunition, using a pistol safely, operating a pistol, cleaning, storing and transporting a pistol, shooting fundamentals, shooting positions, improving and maintaining shooting skills, and buying a pistol.

The Basics of Rifle Shooting (8 hrs.) - Level 2 & 3   

Description: Basic Rifle Shooting Course and includes such topics as rifle parts and how they work, ammunition, using your rifle safely, taking care of your rifle, the fundamentals of rifle shooting, firing your first shots, rifle shooting positions, marksmanship skills, buying a rifle, and sharing the enjoyment of shooting.

The Basics of Shotgun Shooting (8 hrs.) - Level  2 & 3   

Description: Basic Shotgun Shooting Course and includes such topics as how your shotgun works, ammunition, selecting a shotgun, safety, caring for your shotgun, the fundamentals of shotgun shooting, a look at the opportunities of shooting.

NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection in the Home: 

Description: Covers how to make your home less appealing to professional criminals, avoiding confrontation, and thoroughly covers the practical use of a firearm as a last resort to defend your home and family. Further advice is given on the different levels of mental awareness needed to assure your day-to-day safety.

NRA Guide to the Basics of Personal Protection Outside the Home: 

Description: Covers the knowledge, skills and attitude essential for avoiding dangerous confrontations and for the safe,

effective and responsible use of a concealed pistol for self-defense outside the home.

NRA Pistol Marksmanship Simulator Course (4 hrs. 30 mins.): 

ShadowFTA Simulator Marksmanship Course incorporates our world famous "VirTra 300 & 100 Simulators"

 

Description: To provide the basic KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ATTITUDE necessary to learn pistol marksmanship using a virtual training system.  More Details: The course teaches basic marksmanship fundamentals, and firearm safety using a real firearm, retro fitted with a laser, and loaded with a CO2 magazine, which recycle the firearm just like real ammo. The laser interacts with our simulators to indicate where the shots hit with the associated sound of real firearms. No live fire shooting range is needed with this simulator training course and you save on the cost of live ammo that can average from $.99 to $1.20 per one bullet. It can be held anywhere; a meeting room in a hotel, business boardroom, or in a church hall. With very little equipment, the NRA Pistol Marksmanship Simulator Training Course teaches the fundamentals of sight alignment, trigger control, grip, and breath control. At the completion of the course, an NRA participation certificate is awarded. Students may attend this course as a basis to decide whether or not they would like to follow-up by taking the full length Basic Pistol Course with live fire, or simply learn to improve their marksmanship skills.

NRA INSTRUCTOR CERTIFICATION COURSES  

All Instructor Courses are Level 3 Only

Description: Course is presented in two parts: basic instructor training, and discipline specific instructor training.

​

NRA Pistol Instructor Course:

​

Description: This 16-hour course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Pistol Shooting course.  

​

Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a perquisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.

Description: Course is presented in two parts: basic instructor training, and discipline specific instructor training. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination. Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, NRA Pistol Shooting Instructor Candidate Packet and NRA Basic Pistol Shooting course student packet.

NRA Rifle Instructor Course:

​

Description: This 20-hour course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Rifle Shooting course. ​

​

Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a perquisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.

Description: This 17-hour course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Basic Shotgun Shooting Course.

Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills is a perquisite for certification as an NRA instructor. Prior to the instructor training, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.

Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination. NRA Basic Range Safety Officer Course (RSO):

​

Description: Develops NRA Certified Range Safety Officers with the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential to organizing, conducting, and supervising safe shooting activities and range operations.

​

This course is nine hours long and is conducted in a classroom and at a shooting facility. Range Safety Officer candidates will learn roles and responsibilities of an RSO; Range Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); range inspection; range rules; range briefings; emergency procedures; and firearm stoppages and malfunctions. Each Range Safety Officer Candidate will receive an RSO Student Study Guide, a Basic Firearm Training Program brochure, an NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure and a Course Evaluation form.

NRA Chief Range Safety Officer (CRSO):

​

Description: This 14-hour course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to training and supervising NRA range safety officers and developing range standard operating procedures.

​​

Prerequisite: Must be an NRA Certified Range Safety Officer. Course is presented in two parts: Basic Instructor Training and NRA Chief Range Safety Officer training. Sessions include standard operating procedures, inspections, emergency procedures, firearm stoppages and malfunctions, safety briefings. Students demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises and complete an open book exam. Students will receive NRA Basic Range Safety Officer lesson plans, basic student packet and basic course presentation CD.
